The HKAE Pitch Competition on Grand Challenge Engineering Topics for University Students 2024-25 has been carefully designed to highlight a student team competition centered on innovation, design, and business development, all within the framework of the Chief Executive’s 2024 vision. The upcoming 2024-25 Pitch Competition will revolve around the theme:

Smart and Sustainable Engineering Utilizing Advanced Materials,
Robotics, and AI to Enhance Quality of Life and Health

This theme emphasizes the critical importance of harnessing cutting-edge technologies not only to elevate quality of life but also to nurture overall well-being and health, with a specific focus on intelligent and sustainable engineering practices.

The HKAES 2023-24 Pitch Competition on Grand Challenge Engineering Topics for University Students is organized to feature a student team competition of innovation, design, and business development based on a theme related to a major challenge facing society and the planet. Climate change is one of the most profound challenges the world faces. Thus, student teams participated in the Pitch Competition are required to propose ways to address aspects of the following theme:

AI-empowered Solutions for Global Climate Change Challenges

Each university team is required to propose an innovative solution and carry out substantial work to address specific global challenges related to climate change. While a full-fledged start-up is not necessary, teams should demonstrate a rigorous entrepreneurial and design approach that goes beyond initial ideas or concepts. The technological/engineering solutions must be practical, and the innovation must be viable with a clear route to growth and sustained impact.
